Sunday Sketches

Can you believe it's Sunday again? Phew!  Hope this little note finds each of you doing well.

Above is a watercolour I did for a friend yesterday as a gift for their birthday.  It's obviously just a beginner piece (as I have alot of techniques to learn) but it was fun and I did challenge myself with it.

Firstly, there were no lines for me to follow this time around.  I simply picked up the brush, painted and then added lines/detail afterwards.  Also, I've officially started using actual watercolour paints. No more watercolour pencils, at least for now.  I have to admit, I still love the use of my water brush though as there's so much more control and freedom with it.  Not too bad for the first time around!

Now, off to see what everyone else has done this week.  Happy SS!  :)

Sweet Saturdays

All I need on Saturday mornings to make them sweet is a hot cuppa, my watercolours and a few green buddies for inspiration.  Hee.

I'm off to work on a special art project for a friend's birthday today. Check back tomorrow (Sunday Sketches) to see the completed piece.

Happy Sweet Saturdays!  =)

My Imaginary World

Today was challenging at times for me. So, what did I do? I pulled out my art supplies this afternoon and let myself get lost in a world of creativity for awhile.

Here's a sneak peak at two characters I'm currently illustrating -- Toucan Dewey and Tippy the Turtle.

P.S. I'm submitting this for Paint Party Friday....make sure to stop in and say hello! :)

There's ALWAYS hope...

Since I've been in such a creative mode/mood this past week, I decided to move over to my other website, Hope To Dream, and give it a face lift as well.  It also allowed me to add some other pieces/pages that I've been wanting to do for quite awhile (e.g. Public Relations, personal publications, etc).  So, as of this afternoon, Hope To Dream is complete.

From here on out, I will be writing other posts regarding my domestic violence survival, the steps taken to remove myself from such a difficult situation and the healing process (including extensive counseling along with speaking to empower others which in return empowered me within).

Please feel free to spread the news. I really desire to help others who find themselves, family or friends in similar situations.

You're TEA - rriffic!

Alas, another cloudy/rainy day but the handmade watercolour card is complete.  Of course, you know I couldn't leave out the red heart or striped socks!  Hee

Hot cuppa anyone? =)

Tweetin' Away

It was quite a lovely day here in my cozy little town yesterday.  The sun was out, the sky was the bluest of blues, and the birds were happy - including the beautiful Pelicans slip-sliding their way back and forth across the water.

After a brief spot of sun earlier this afternoon, the clouds have returned but it hasn't discouraged me from doodling away on a new project.  I think I will title this little card, You're tea-riffic! I'm certain it will brighten someone's day.

Sunday Sketches

Hello and WELCOME to another fabulous week of sketching!  After a few days in a row of stresses, I decided to make Saturday a "me" day. Uh huh. I spent the day going on short walks with the pups and being creative.  Boy did it feel good! :)

This is my finished clothesline piece.   As you can see I've added a few extra doodles.  The only thing I'm stumped on is what kind of saying to put on the front of the card.  Ho hum.  Ideas?

Happy sketching everyone! :)

Hanging Laundry

It's been raining here for over a week now.  Quite depressing and really doesn't help one's mood in the midst of things.  Sigh.

Regardless, I've been facing/tackling as much as I can these past few days and tonight is the first time since Saturday that I've had the opportunity to pick up my sketch pad and pencils.  This idea has been floating around in my head for quite some time now and I'm glad to have the first draft put to paper.

One can only imagine what the final project will look like...hmmm.

Do you notice anything particular about the laundry? =)

Sunday Sketches

It's that time of the week again.  Crazy how some days fly by without even knowing it!

This week I created something a little different and for my father as it's his birthday (Sunday).  I'm very thankful that he's still here with us - therefore making this birthday an extra special one!

Both pieces are cute, but I think the sketch is better than my watercolour version. Try as I may, I could not get the face on the watercolour to turn out the same.  Grr.  Regardless...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY! =)

Hanging On

Although there have been some really good times with my father, there are still some trying and emotional ones.  Today was a bit emotional for me.

I am SO grateful for all of the good moments with my dad right now as tomorrow is not promised.

Just want my bloggie friends to know that I am still here, it's just really hard to find the words to write and do art at times...[tears streaming]

Love to you all! xo

Sunday Sketches

Hello and welcome to Sunday Sketches.  I apologize for not being around this week.  Dad was transported to a new location for care/treatment - about 3 hours away.  So, there was a lot of things/details to take care of.   On top of that, I've not been feeling well the past day or so again. It's been such a tough journey with all of this, but we're pushing through the best we know how.

On another note, it was really nice reconnecting with several family members this past week; ones that I've not seen since grandma's passing back in 2005.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this week's doodles.  They're not much, but it was fun messing around with the idea and was obviously inspired by a few of you creating your own little robots lately.

Happy SS everyone!

Sunday Sketches

Hello and WELCOME to another wonderful Sunday Sketches.  It's been completely delightful, watching how our group continues to grow.  Yeah!  So, if you know anyone else that would like to join in, please pass along the invite.  =)

Above are some new "Tea Love" doodles.  The first is from a page in my sketchbook journal and the other is a small greeting card, which is available for purchase here.  I enjoyed getting lost in these sketches/watercolours earlier today. Ahhh!

Happy SS, everyone!
