My idea for this week's Scribble Picnic theme, ladder, took quite some time to develop. After thinking and researching...and then doing more thinking and researching... and then MORE thinking............ and MORE researching.......an idea FINALLY came to mind as to what I would illustrate. Yay me!
Once I started sketching the detail for my books I realized how utterly insane it was to think up such a grand idea! This piece took two full days to come up with and implement the design for each one. How long do you think it will take to paint?! :)
With that said, can you spot my special guest and the home he's making among my favorite books?

Oh my gosh, I love it. So fun to see this from the initial rough sketch to your more worked up one. I love how you've drawn the cute lil' mouse--such an expressive littel chap, and the books are great!
ReplyDeleteIncorporating ladders as sch here was/is very clever! Can't wait for when you can transfer this over to your watercolour paper and paint it. I just know it's going to rock! Thank you so much for joining this week too, smoots. I'm thinking the picnic could easily move indoors here as it's such a cosy spot, mouse and all. :)
Oh, and finally, Love your headline. A fun read! Hee.
This is so beautifully detailed, whimsical and fun Alexandra!
ReplyDeletethe books could be his ladder too, such cute little mouse, I like his large ears. such well-decorated book spines & do I see a door behind one of the books? this could take a while to paint. such wonderful take on the ladder theme.
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
Such a fun piece, it makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteI love your charming details on all the books and the little flower pot and door for the mouse. I can only imagine that the mouse is quite happy to live there.
So magical and that darling little mouse is in heaven living there, as I would be :)
ReplyDeleteBeautifully illustrated and I do believe that painting this will take much longer than two days~
Alexandra,
ReplyDeleteYour imagination continues to amaze me. Love the little mouse. Does he have a name? And is that his bed in the cup? I see the little door. So adorable. And such details.

ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of work, but I can already imagine it painted in your always beautiful colors -

ReplyDeleteLove the detail here ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
eeeeek, a mouse! :-) Thankfully he's quite a cute one and apparently planning no harm to those lovely books! I had briefly thought about a library ladder, but would never have dreamed of separate ones for each shelf. How clever!
