Scribble Picnic: New Year!
We're back from our holiday visit to Kentucky with my family and I've spent the entire time on the sofa sick! Thank goodness I did my illustration just before leaving to fly back as I would have missed the new year prompt for Scribble Picnic with Michael and the gang!
Most of us tend to create resolutions for the new year....I thought it was fitting to create an illustration on "renewing love"...these two adorable hedgehogs are renewing their love for one another...something it seems our world is in more need of lately.
I've personally not made any resolutions at this point due to being sick. However, all this time on the sofa has allowed time to think about this new year and where I'd like to be or go, not just with my work but with family. 2017 brought many, many joys and blessings but it also brought some of the most stressful months near the last half of the year as well. I'm praying 2018 will be a bit gentler on us!
With that said, this gal is going to have to skip the picnic this week. I'll remain home under the covers sipping on lemon tea, eating salty potato chips and blowing my nose every 2 minutes! Ha! But please do enjoy Mr. & Mrs. Hedgehog as they have lots of yummy goodies to offer!

Love your illustration. I am all for renewing love. Seems there is so little of it these days.
ReplyDeleteAwesome way to think of the new year! Love it. Resolutions I do not do....thoughts and maybe goals but I will not title it a resolution! Its my way of not feeling bad if I don't do a goal or thought...
ReplyDeleteThat's very sweet! :) Happy New Year to you! What a way to start...I hope you feel better soon. I had to laugh at your salty chips...my Alex always says a Coke and some BBQ chips will fix him right up when he's sick! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely inspiration for the New Year, so sorry you've been sick though.
ReplyDeleteaww, I'm so sorry to hear you're under the weather,, there are so many sick this year,, I think you have a great plan sipping tea and the salty chips,, that's what we do too lol,, take care sweet lady,, your hedgehogs are so beautiful and romantic under the night sky!
ReplyDeleteThey are darling, and love should be the way to begin any new year.
ReplyDeleteSending you healing blessings and a wish that the New Year is everything you want it to be! You and Michael are both brilliant. . . have you ever watched "The Song of the Sea"? We just did last week and I have to say though it's not a woodland story, it reminded me of your illustrations brought to life and the sweetness and magic within them. (Michael's too!)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!

Ooh, that sounds so interesting, Nicolas. We will look it up. I ahve heard of it before, I believe. Thank you.
DeleteAhhh renewing love, what a wonderful thought. Actually we do need to be reminded once in awhile and your little hedgehogs do it perfectly. So sorry you are sick ... sounds like more that just a cold. Lemon tea and maybe warm chicken soup ... and my personal cure that seems to work well is Vitamin C and Zinc tablets once a day until you are better. Hope you are up and about soon, Alexandra ... and I too hope for less stress in the coming years. This one has been rough for everyone.

I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. You have had an adventurous end-of-year chock full of activities. Hope you start to feel better soon. I do love the way you went with the theme - such a great time to renew our love. I'll have to keep that in mind for next NYE. Continued love and happiness to you in 2018 Alexandra!
ReplyDeletethis is so sweet, love their winter gears.
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
Bad luck catching such a miserable bronchial bug Alexandra - I'm praying for you to be well very soon. Michael, I'm certain, is taking good care of you!
ReplyDeleteNew Year hugs -Mary
You know, I would think if you are a prickly pair, like these hedgies, the need to renew love often woudl be quite tantamount....along with removing all the prickles! hehe. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your take on this prompt, Smoots. It's so endearing and adorable. I'm right there with you. Thank you. Sorry you have borchitis but so glad the doctors have pumped you full of steroids and meds...um, I think! Feel better soon. I'm to the ready for the next Sprite or French Fry run whenever you need it. :) x
P.S. I'm great at making resolutions and commitments for the year but not so apt at keeping them as life has been quite unpredictable with various stresses as you note!
Oh no....get better soon! Love the hedgehogs!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better!! Happy New Year!! Wishing you many blessings for 2018!! Big Hugs!
