Coping through creativity

Photo: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/

The last few days have been difficult in dealing with my father's surgery and recent diagnosis of cancer. I find myself tucking away the tears/heartache in order to provide strength and encouragement to my father (lives in another state). Compartmentalizing is not easy, let me tell you!

I knew it would not be conducive or healthy for me to keep my own emotions bottled up for long, so I reached out into my creativity zone a little yesterday and tonight to help me "cope". As you can see, I've revamped my blog and even designed my own header. You will also find the [completed] doodles I featured a few days ago to the right on my sidebar.

There is one other thing I've challenged myself to do and that is to take my own personal, creative journey through "A Daily Creativity Journal - 365". So, keep an eye out for more details.

For now, my father needs me. So, I pray for your patience here in the blog world over the next few days/weeks as there are still a lot of unknowns that need to be determined.

Again, thank you for all of your amazing, sweet and tender comments.

  1. That's tough - so very tough. The more I think about it, the more I find that the best way of helping me to deal with difficult situations on an ongoing basis is to keep my creative side nourished.

Easier said than done at times, of course. But I wish you well in navigating this journey ahead with your father (best wishes for his health and care, too) x

  5. Sophia, I am so sorry to hear the diagnosis. My continued thoughts and prayers so with you. Like Anne said, life does come first and the important people in that life. We will be here. Your creativity will be waiting as well. Even if it is a doodle a day - those images will all collect and build to something you might never have imagined otherwise.
    *hugs*

  14. This is a tough journey that you all are travelling, but one with amazing mountain views to inspire, dull desolate valleys to bore your endless moments of questions, truly loving friends discovered... hang in, doodle, create, it will all help to fill the tough moments of silence, of searching for answers.
