Sunday Sketches: Boxes & boxes!
It's been incredibly chaotic this week. On top of sorting and packing, we prepared for a huge moving sale yesterday and our day started at 4:00 in the morning! It was a successful sale, mind you, but we were exhausted from the early morning hours and the temperatures that reached nearly 100 degrees! Everything is pretty much gone now, whether sold or given away. We've only 2 weeks left in our home here before we move a dozen boxes, our sofa set, 2 end tables and my desk out. After that, the carpets will be professionally and a final walk through to ensure everything is clean and crisp.
With that said, I plan to settle back into my art and complete illustration work for my two children's books scheduled to launch soon. I've barely had time to do anything with everything going on so you can imagine how happy I'll be to finally be doing more art on a regular basis again...at least until we fly out in just 3 weeks.
Finally, last week, I launched a contest to come up with a new (temporary) Sunday Sketches logo while abroad. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone came up with so be sure to post a link to your idea below. Yay!

love your little traveller. :)
ReplyDeleteMy first entry to your meme. Hope to ad more as I have bought a digital drawing board :)
Thank you so much and SO glad to have you join us. :)
DeleteAww he is so cute. I love the little sidewards smile, like he's excited about the journey ahead but also a little apprehensive. I'm glad he's taking a scarf because he might need a little extra layer... the weather is really very summery.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels x
Thank you, Denise. Love his quirky smile and scarf. Hee Thank you for the well wishes on our travels. :)
DeleteYour little traveler is precious...as always. You are moving towards the next exciting chapter of your life and that of your husband. I am so thrilled for you and wish you only the best. Maybe I missed something along the way, but I am assuming you all are moving permanently to England. MY WISH! I would go in a New York Minute. How I adore the people, the country, and all of the United Kingdom. I took children across the pond for years and years and have gone myself many times as well as trips with my husband, my daughter and best friend, and another of our friends. I would go to Miltown Malbay in Ireland to study fiddle in the summer living in an old convent. Scotland was heavenly as was Northern Ireland. I will take the rain all day every day just to be there. Sadly I can no longer travel due to my back so I have to visit my favorite part of the world vicariously through my friends like you. Please send lots of photos. I know you illustration work is doing to grow and prosper...both you and your husband together. Take care as you close out those last little bits and pieces of your life here. Happy and Love Filled Travels. genie
ReplyDeleteAwww, thank you, Genie. We certainly are and thank you for all of your best wishes. No, we're not moving permanently there - just until end of November. :) Thank you and will keep you and everyone posted. :)
DeleteOh Alexandra! I don't know how you two are doing it! We've been saving to buy a place for a few years but it is the thought of moving, and the near-ideal living situation that we are already in, that has kept us from really diving in. . . having to pack, clean, sell, give away, interrupt business, say goodbyes, establish new connections etc etc. We both say, if we were 20 yrs old again it would be different. lol
ReplyDeleteHere's to hoping the last few weeks go smoothly and without setback. Enjoy the creative time and the anticipation of adventure ahead!! :)
Nicholas! I survived it all. lol We get to settle down, so to speak, and rest this coming week, before we board the plane and head off to England. Phew! I hope you're able to buy your dream home one day!! :)
Deletexx
so you will be sleeping on the couch for two weeks and eating a lot of take-a-way?
ReplyDeletehaha yes, to sleeping on the couch but very little take-away. lol :D

Deleteglad to hear your sale was a success and that most of the packing is done! your little drawing is super cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you on all fronts! Hope you're doing well. xx
DeleteYour 'little traveller's' smile reminds of a photo I have seen somewhere of your husband smiling :) I am glad your sale went well and I hope you find the time to create art soon. I know too well how it feels when you cannot 'art'.
ReplyDeleteAwww....too cute! I'll have to tell him that! :D
DeleteOh I remember the big international moves I have done and know exactly what you must be experiencing. Glad to hear it is all moving forward according to schedule.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to seeing what everyone has submitted. I didn't have a chance to make something but am sure you'll have some wonderful entries.
Your sketch is a perfect summary of what's to come:)
Glad you can relate and understand. It's a bit more than just moving within town or state to state here in the US. Oy! No worries on not having a moment to participate. Totally understand and hope you're doing well.
DeleteAwww, what a sweet illustration! I'm glad your sale went well and that you'll be having more time to do your art. You seem to be very organized.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lisa. I'd like to think I'm organized but not always. haha :)
DeleteYour little guy is so cute! So happy your moving sale went well! Busy, busy, busy! Make sure to breathe and smile! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAwww, thank you, Stacey! We're glad it went well also. xx
DeleteI'm just amazed at your news regarding moving to the UK soon - it will be quite an experience for you but I know Michael will love showing you everything English! I hope his mum does better knowing you guys are there and obviously care.
ReplyDeleteGood luck dear - you can experience the ex-pat life which is always fun!
Hugs to you and Michael.
- Mary
It will and we're both looking forward to it in many ways, despite some potential challenges along the way with caring for his mother. xx
DeleteAlthough moving (and packing) is exhausting, the little guy in your drawing looks like he's ready to go with that big smile on his face. Enjoy this new experience.
ReplyDeleteAwww, thank you, Barbara. I hope you're doing well. xx
DeleteSounds like you're about ready to be on your way. I can't even imagine moving from our current home after nearly 17 years. Hope you like my logo, but I know you have a lot of great choices.
ReplyDeleteYes, we are. It's been crazy but we have this coming week with a little downtime and then off we go! :) Your logo was fabulous. It was SO hard choosing. :D
