Ewan....Ewan, the Lumberjack....he's here and ready to help you cut down and build whatever you want during this picnic round. Uh huh. Well, except maybe an entire house! Yes, I found him a few days ago while checking in on Mr. Fish-n-Chips.
BLACK & WHITE is this week's Scribble Picnic theme. I had fun bringing this guy to life. He gave me some issues at first - like when I initially gave him an axe two-times too small for him! Oh dear me. But hey, that's what these weekly art challenges are all about, yes? Every week, I feel like I'm learning and growing....sure hope you feel the same way. Thank you to, Michael, who keeps us all going in that creative direction.
Now, I'm not sure about you but I'm ready for a slice of some meaty, pot pie he's bringing to the picnic this week. For dessert? I'm bringing a delicious chocolate cream pie! Are you ready? Well, come on over, you don't want to miss what everyone else is bringing to the table!
Have I told you lately that I'm in love with your Ewan. He is such a hunk, and looks like he has a great big heart. Love the details of his hat and sleeves. Great job Alexandra. You have a gift from above.
ReplyDeleteWanda, I LOVE your hunk comments. You make my day with your joi de vie comments. Love that Italian style.
DeleteYour lumberjack is AWESOME, Alexandra! The black and white parts really make him stand out.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Scribble Picnic is stretching my imagination in ways I never thought possible. Kudos to Michael for bringing it all together with a prompt each week.
that is so nice to read, Serena. Thank you!
DeleteSuch a wonderful lumberjack. I love all the details that you have here. Fun that he is a red head. I sure could have used him this morning and yesterday as I split a huge pile of wood and stacked it before tonight's rain arrives.
ReplyDeleteI like Ewan. He's so strong. Bet he could chop down the biggest tree in the forest. Very nice, Alexandra.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful piece you've done Alexandra, wonderful details and colouring.
ReplyDeleteLove your lines, and just enough colour to the black and white.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Janis
very nice :) and great big red beard? related to the sailor maybe? ;)
ReplyDeleteanother bearded guy, sweet & I like all the patterns on his clothes and hat and even his beard. and his ears are cute and so round. good take on the theme.
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
Brothers or cousins, these manly men are great. The black and white background and clothing just makes that wonderful face pop!
ReplyDeleteI might almost swap Bob for a Ewan type of man (don't tell him!) who is handy to have around, especially in the garden. He could rid my plot of all the overgrown trees and shrubs perhaps!
ReplyDeleteLove the background.
Lovely piece Alexandra - you truly have such talent.
Hugs - Mary
Another manly man, Smoots, I see. Maybe they are cousins! So glad I can be the inspiration for such alpha hairy males. hahaha. No but seriously, I love this guy! Ewan is a fab name too (very Dutch) and I picture him out in the woods, clearing and threshing as you've shown with the woods behind. Just noticed the 2nd row of trees on the hilltop behind him--brilliant-- as is his fabulous 3d liek beard, the patterns, everything! This has surely got to be one f your best pieces ever! YES, you are totally growing. Reminds me a lot of how much Lissa grew over the year too from the art challenges. I love seeing your creativity blossoms, spurring me on to to not settle and try new things.
ReplyDeleteWhislt he may be burly, there's joy emanating from this piece too. I don't know how you do it but your work has a spirit behind it that emanates out. (You've certainly overcome and felled a whole lot of giants in your life so maybe that's part of it?) Thank you so much.
Oh, and finally, I always SO LOVE your write ups! They make me chuckle each time. Love your picnic offerings. The pie was excellent, my dear! :) You are the best. Can I keep you? xoxo
What a brilliant character you've created!
ReplyDeleteYou and Micheal sure think alike ... that touch of color brings everything together in the perfect black and white picture. I could have used Ewan on several occasions. He looks that part of the perfect handyman. Pot pie and Chocolate anything would get my attention :) Love everything you do, Alexandra ...
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From The Sol
He's great. I imagine him singing in the voice of the lumberjack from the Rudolph Christmas special.
ReplyDeleteYou had me at chocolate cream pie! :) Your Ewan is great! I love how you brought him to life...oh my, yes, he definitely needs a big ax to go with his big personality! :))
ReplyDeleteHe is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh he's wonderful! I love the details on his clothing.
ReplyDeleteHe is so handsome! Amazing detail!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, I like the trees in the background!
ReplyDeleteFor a moment I thought this was your same guy from last week–they must certainly be related!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing it took awhile for you to do all that pattern in his cap and on his sleeves.
Except for the color, this makes me think of a scratch art picture.
