It's a little birthday celebration this week for
Scribble Picnic. Uh huh. Everyone is gathering at Simon's house on Cabbage Lane to celebrate his birthday...including his brother, George. And what did he get his Simon?.... a
radio! Fancy that! I think I'm a bit jealous. Hee.
With the beautiful Autumnal weather, it will make for a
perfect picnic as well. What did you bring this week for
Michael's lil' gathering? Me? Hot, homemade apple cider. Mmmm It is sure to warm you up in no time!
So cute, so clever ... this would fit perfectly in one of your children's books. I am really into fall colors and weather. It's my favorite time of year and yes, thank you, I will have some cider. We have a store call Trader Joe's and they have everything pumpkin this time of year so I will bring some pumpkin tortilla chips to Micheal's gathering. You and Micheal are a blessing ... many thanks.

Yum, that sounds so good, Andrea! And you know what? We actually went to Trader Joe's last weekend for the 2nd time ever...to buy pumpkins! Super inexpensive and now decorating our front door entrance.
DeleteVery cute and a wonderful little story behind it!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the autumnal colours you've used to welcome the season!
ReplyDeleteI love your drawings Alexandra! Simon is a lucky little bunny. The whole drawing looks fabulous and seasonal. I'll have some cider, but I may bring my homemade "Cherry Bounce" along in case I need to warm up :)
ReplyDeleteAwww -such a pretty drawing!
ReplyDeleteLove it! So cozy looking. When I think of radios, I think of the pink plastic one I had as a kid that I loved so much!!
ReplyDeleteso much detail :D
ReplyDeletei am so use to cider being alcoholic now lol unlike the stuff you tend to get in North America
Alcoholic apple cider is not nearly as good! :)
Deletehavent had it, prefer berry cider or vodka :p (i dont drink that often tho, considering there is a cider in the fridge from 2 years ago lol)
DeleteHow very generous of George!
ReplyDeleteYour drawing is wonderful and fun. (For a brief moment I thought that home was a big old shoe, but quickly realized it was much more likely a tree root!) Love the fall colors!
I would certainly enjoy some hot cider! Could I bring some crisp, red apples to the picnic?
Your little animal families are so precious. Makes one want to become one and jump into your story page. What a nice gift. Let the music begin.
ReplyDeleteI like that red/white polka dot scarf and all the other colorful scarves around the other animals. so many little details - like the hanging flowers and baskets and the presents everyone's holding and the colorful leaves falling around them -quite a lovely piece.
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
I'm bringing soft and chewy ginger cookies shaped like pumpkins to go with your apple cider.
ReplyDeleteLove Autumn picnics. This piece, once again, is fabulous Alexandra, all the precious tiny details make me smile - big time!
I see the carriage lamp - just now checking the new one I bought yesterday to hang outside our door once the cottage reno is completed - just mostly the painting left which will be done next week, thank goodness! The job grew as they always do!
Happy weekend to you and Michael.

Mary, I'm first in line for those soft chewy ginger cookies! Ha. Actually, at this rate, maybe I'm last since everyone else has gone home and it's Friday now! Boo! No ginger snaps for me.
DeleteOh, I AM glad to hear there will be warmed apple pie as I'm not really a fan of steamed cabbage, per se!
ReplyDeleteLove this illo, smoots. It is so darling. I wonder what the mouse is giving Simon in that cute lil box too? Love how you not only rendered a radio but drew there entire scene around it! It reminds me of this week's picnic if all of us instead were lil animals and each present was a radio. So fun! Very well drawn and painted too. Oooh, you can tell you love Autumn! Phew. Me too! Goodbye hot summer day and loud motorclycles! Wheeee.
So, what do you suppose they'll listen to on the radio? Maybe a radio version of Watership Down? Um..maybe not actually! how about Looney Tunes instead? heh. Woudl that even work for radio?
Thank you so much for taking ALL that time to create this to the perfectness it is. Love it.
This is purely magical! I love this!! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteSo many things to see in your picture. Lovely.
