Today I started a new sketchbook journal. Prior to traveling across the pond, I listed out what supplies to bring and various projects to keep myself motivated with my illustration work while abroad. In the end, I made the decision to purchase a selection of books from the Handbook Journal Co and have been quite pleased with them at this point.
My first journal book was filled with various sketches of this and that. No rhyme or reason. Just fun doodles. With the new one, I wanted to challenge myself a bit more so am planning on filling the daily pages with rough sketches of various subjects - like the whales above. I'm excited to see where this art project challenge will take me!

ReplyDeleteBrilliant to see you at work. The whales are super cute.
Can I ask a question? I've noticed your paintbrush and would love to try one out. Can you recommend where to purchase and also what it's called.
Enjoy your Sunday and thanks for hosting once again :D
Love your whales and your journal sketches .. I am always so interested to see an update from you to see where you are and what you are doing. Such an exciting time for you while you are traveling abroad. I hope your mother in law is doing better.... you have a wonderful Sunday and rest of the weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, also for me it's always great to start a new sketchbook and I love it so much how you filled page one with the cute whales. They give me the impression of talking to each other maybe about where they could get a nice cup of tea ;) - I like it so much to read your notes about your journey and I often think of you and if you like living in Europe. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and everyday life adventures and best wishes for the stay in UK.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work Alexandra! always enchanting visiting you. Wishing you a beautiful week ahead

ReplyDeleteI have recently decided to try and keep a journal of daily sketches. In the past, it's been difficult to keep up with it after a few days, but I feel a little bit more motivated right now. So we'll see. It will be fun to see what you continue to put in yours. I hope you share your pages with us.
ReplyDeleteawww such cute whales :D
ReplyDeleteYou make it look so easy with your sketches ~ so creative, colorful and joyful!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy Week ^_^
the whales are so cute. perhaps I should start something challenging as well...
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
Looking forward to seeing where it takes you too! I think I'll finally be joining the sketch group next week. I realized my "sketches" are never going to be done in a journal or by hand as I have been a digital artist far too long. So I am compositing images in photoshop and using my Wacom art tablet to "sketch" them together. : ) So far so good and I think I am ready to start sharing them. :)
ReplyDeleteI really love those drawings and the experimentation wit hthe blue watercolour on the whale hump! Keep it up. Your art is growing up adn "spouting" all over. :)
ReplyDeletegood tip to hear about the journals by handbook journal co. I always enjoy seeing artists work out their inspirations in their journals. Love your collection of whale drawings. They are such amazing creatures.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun!!! Love your whales!
