The ambiance and warmth filling this darling bakeshop is perfect for the creative soul, as you can see above. Outside are dainty, bright colored tables and chairs, tucked under tall Ash trees, stretching out their arms to provide shade for those who might linger underneath with their cuppas in hand. Utterly blissful on any summer morning or afternoon.

My Secret Love: All things Old
One of my favorite things to do a few times a week is venturing out of the studio to cozy up in a favorite coffee shop of sorts and people watch. Today, I chose The Little Bird Bakeshop. Partly due to the fact I was already scheduled to meet a friend but also because of my secret love for the old brick walls and wooden floors within. I love all things old and the incredible smell that comes along with it. It's as if smelling a part of history and then closing your eyes to imagine who would've stumbled into this particular old building 10, 15 or even 20 years ago...and why.

I love being around old buildings, my dentist is in an old victorian house converted to more modern but you can still see the layout and the wood paneling, adds a lot of charm to the place.
ReplyDeleteMe, too! I bet you dentist's office looks incredible. Thank you for sharing! :)
Deletesweet sketch and delicious cuppa! The bakeshop looks adorable.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Christine. It is! If you ever make it this way to visit, we'd love to take you there. :)
DeleteIsn't it interesting how an inviting ambience such as your Little Bird Bakeshop makes both the food and the drinks so much more of a treat - love your happy girl with her bunch of flowers.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. We've got a few old places downtown that make it a delight to hang out at. Thank you in regards to my artwork. :)
DeleteI love to go to my local coffee shop a few times a week too. It'one of my favourite pastimes. I hope you find a similar 'retreat' here in England after your move.
ReplyDeleteI hope so, too. It's important to the creative soul! :)
DeleteI just love your little "Pink" girl! She is just adorable. Always enjoy your posts and sketches. I do wish I had such a cozy and colorful coffee house nearby. Happy to know my friend is enjoying it. :)
ReplyDeleteAww...thank you very much! I wish you had one there, too. Maybe there is and you just haven't discovered it yet? :)
DeleteI so agree with you! Wonderful thought!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! :)

Thanks, Yvonne. We absolutely love it there and have a few morning "rituals" during the week and weekend, to pop in and linger for awhile. ;)
DeleteBeautiful! I would love to go there! Me too, I would think about the history! I love your sketch!
ReplyDeleteWell, if you're every here, I'll take you there. You'd love it and would be inspired to draw more. :)

It's completely charming! I owned a coffeehouse for 10 years in a 100 year old building that used to be a general store. It still had the original wooden soda counter and the floors and bulk bins with the little pop out windows in the front, all made from thick old wood, as well as the ceiling fans and floor to ceiling recessed entry door and windows ( we kept the original doors too, even though they were a challenge to open and close some days!!). My favorite thing was how, every once in a while, a man or woman in their 70's or 80's would wander in who had grown up in the neighborhood in the 1940's or 50's and they remembered how it used to be set up, where every little display, candy counter or ice cream freezer was. . . you could see the nostalgic twinkle in their eyes and their delight at being able to sit in, as many put it, "the one place that I can still recognize in the neighborhood anymore."
ReplyDeleteThose moments were, to me, simply priceless.
Nicolas, what a lovely comment. I loved hearing your story about the old coffeehouse you used to own. So sweet. What precious memories you have! Awwww
