I've been tucked away in the studio the past few days finalizing birthday card illustrations for the UK card company I design for. It's been an absolute delight illustrating cakes of all sorts but not all of the cards will be filled with scrumptious goodies. Some though, will have adorable hedgies and cuddly cat characters. It will be a series of twelve cards and available this Autumn.
At the beginning of the week, I created a 'sweet' tutorial on how to paint a cupcake, sharing some hints and tips along the way. Enjoy the video and be sure to leave any questions you might have in the comments below.
No questions, Alex, I'm not a true artist just one who very much enjoys and appreciated. Just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed it. You make it look so easy! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Charlotte. You're positively sweet. :)
DeleteLoved your video, and your cupcakes look amazing! I didn't even know there were waterbrushes like that!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine. Yep, lots of them. I prefer the Pentel waterbrushes. :)
DeleteI loved to watch you water colour Alexandra and you DO make it look easy..I have no control with paint brushes and when I do paint I use my fingers..thank you so much for coming over to my blog and for your lovely comments...really appreciate it..

Awww...thank you very much, Chrissy. It's a lot of fun. And my pleasure. I enjoy your darling cards. :)
Delete"Finding joy in what you're doing. . . " Absolutely true. I still have some of the very first things I made in polymer clay. . . and when I look at them now, I don't see the lack of skill or the distance travelled between those first pieces and what I create now, I just remember the absolute thrill (ok, and occasional annoyance) at having started something new and bewildering. . . with nothing but possibilities ahead and no idea where it was going to lead.
ReplyDeleteWonderful tutorial. . .it makes me want to paint. . . Or make cupcakes. . . either would be fine :)
hahaha I had to chuckle at your comment of the "occasional annoyance". I SO know what you mean. I just loved your entire comment. Love your humour. You should try to paint a cupcake....and make some. :D
DeleteFabulous! Your work is always wonderful. The cupcakes look so yummy.
ReplyDeleteAwwww...thank you very much, Faye. :)
DeleteThanks for sharing your tutorial. I find it fascinating to see how other artists work. Congratulations on the card series and blessings!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Arnoldo. It was a lot of fun. :)
DeleteI loved your video, I am just beginning to try out watercolours so it was very interesting,
ReplyDeletethank you for your comments on my last post. I love oil pastels especially my Sennelier portrait collection. They are so creamy. I often use them over acrylics on my girls faces or sometimes on their own. I am not an expert on them but I have learned, for me personally, less is more when it comes to oil pastels.
Thank you and glad you loved it. I've learned we certainly don't have to be experts to enjoy the process and have our own style. :)
DeleteIts a super video and the cup cake drawing look delicious.
ReplyDeleteYvonne
Thank you, Yvonne. :D
