Sunday Sketches & Contest Winner

My heart has been heavy with all of the tragedy that continues not just here in America but across the world. Yesterday, while catching up on news, this little girl came to life in my sketchpad and felt it was quite fitting for all that's occurring. It's titled, "Love not Hate". This world needs SO much more love than ever before. May each of us always find a way to show kindness to one another as we walk the path of life each day.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the recent "Sunday Sketches from England" logo contest. I was so blessed to see your ideas, and super cute ones, mind you. With that said, it made it very difficult in choosing a winner (thus taking so long to decide).

I finally narrowed it down to my top 3 favorites and in the end, chose Denise from Neesie Natters. Her illustration captured everything Sunday Sketches is about with that little, special touch of England. Congratulations, Denise! Please email me your email address so I can get the Dick Blick e-certificate sent to you for shopping!

Have a great weekend, everyone! I'm looking forward to catching up with each of you tomorrow.

  5. So sad what happened in Nice, only three years ago we walked on that same boulevard and it is such a beautiful city, we have lovely memories of our days spend in Nice. Thinking of the people in Nice.

  6. Alexandra, your little girl is just sublime, she says everything for us. This should be an picture which goes round the world, so many people would love it.
I love her heart flag and her broken heart which she has mended.

Well done, Neesie, it's a lovely painting.

  15. I don't envy you having to choose! They were all so lovely and each had it's own unique flair.

Keep on pushing love Alexandra. . . every little bit does truly matter! The world events are bad enough but when they are followed by the trail of rhetoric, fear and hatred, most of it barely thinly veiled, that's what truly gets me discouraged. Thank you for sharing the positive message and the lovely sketch! :)
