Sunday Sketches - UPDATED

(Photos accidentally deleted.  Bummer!!)

Hello!  I'm a wee bit late today for my Sunday Sketches and do apologize but didn't want to rush my submission for this week.  I'm learning alot lately that just being loose and free with my painting is making a huge difference for me.

Above is another rendition of one of Beatrix Potter's lovely illustrations.  The rabbit's eyes still need completed but unfortuantely I'm at a coffee shop and forgot to grab tracing paper.  I find it alot easier to experiment with eyes, to tweak and get them just right, without having to erase a gazillion times on the actual piece of art.

Anyway, hope you enjoy this piece as much as I am.  I know my father would be proud and happy of the newly found inspiration. Happy SS!  :)

  12. Wow Sophia this is fantastic!!! I really love the bright colours and your pen work is brilliant! I've just been catching up on your posts and it's so lovely to hear how Beatrix Potter is inspiring you. I watched that movie a little while back and I thought it was lovely and very inspiring. Did you ever read my post where we retraced our family tree and found a connection to Beatrix Potter? here is the link in case you didn't see it: http://nicola-visualdiary.blogspot.com/search?q=beatrix

  18. These are lovely! I love seeing the underpainting before adding the detail in ink. I think it's so wonderful to see the stages of creation. I agree with lori Vliegen, it looks like you've been creating Peter Rabbit paintings for ages.
(continuing to wish you the best, Sophia)
