Scribble Picnic: Forest

I'm sure this sweet illustration isn't a surprise! For those of you who know me, I LIVE to draw the forest with darling woodland animals living life, celebrating every tiny joy along the way. I've drawn quite a few bears in the past but never a poppa and his sweet cub. He's a keeper for sure!

The snow is gently falling for the first time this winter here in Kentucky. It's quite beautiful experiencing snow in a different state for the first time in about 10 years. I love it. It's magical and I feel sweet little stories rising up in my creative soul on this cold, wintry Thursday morning. I love the beauty and wonder that comes with the snowflakes tumbling down. Although I'm not a fan of the cold temperatures, it's perfect for snuzzling up with hot water bottles and sipping tea.

This week, I'm bringing some of my yummy warm, hand-made raisin scones with strawberry jam to Michael's Scribble Picnic. I do hope you enjoy them!

  1. I just knew YOU would make the forest an inviting place dear Alexandra! This is so lovely and friendly, and the expressions on the animals faces are perfect. For so many at this time, this year, forests have meant fire, death, injury and homelessness. (My cousin and her husband, in Calif. have lost their home on 3 acres in the forest, and everything precious is gone - it's hard for them to start over at their advanced age).

I pray you are feeling much better - know you must continue to be good to yourself and, of course, know Michael is helping.
    Our love to you both.

  2. Your woodland animals are so adorable Alexandra :) The snow falling is very pretty, but I'm with you on that cold, I can't handle it too well anymore!

  5. This is so magical, darling. All your time here really paid off. It's perfect. I love the way the lights are some bright and some more glowing to indicate a sort of movement and the glow on the trees, the blue of the snow underfoot, etc. Oh, and that curious squirrel! Fabulous! Thank you so much. Always love it when you join in and will always say, YES, to some scones! :)

  6. Our grandson calls my husband Poppa now and this reminds me of them so much. He loves watching the bunnies in the yard in the spring - such wonderment through the eyes of a toddler. I hope you are on the mend. Back injuries are not fun at any time, but I can't imagine trying to settle into a new home and dealing with that. My best wishes for the happiest of Thanksgivings for you and Michael and your whole family.

I'm never one to look forward to winter, even though fresh snow is amazingly beautiful!

  8. so adorable! I could be the bunny with the red gift box. I like their scarves. perhaps the next drawing would be the bears and the bunny/rabbit families having a meal?

I've never eaten raisin scones but they sound tasty. I would love one or two. thank you.

    have a lovely day.
