Well, I'm not sure this really qualifies as a tablecloth anymore for this week's Scribble Picnic. Sigh. When I first started sketching this illustration, my idea was to have these cute little guys playing on a tablecloth outside in the grass. Somehow, my mind made changes along the way and now they're inside playing! Oops!
So, if you're OK with them still joining the picnic, here they are. They've got a lunch sack with peanut butter and jam sandwiches, chocolate chip cookies and a juice box I'm sure they'd be happy to share!
But the intent was there, darling, and I can certainly see how this could be a tablecloth too...for maybe some new agey type person or astronomer or such! :) As it is it's lovely. So great seeing you use your Manuscript pan materials today too. Thank you so much, Smoots. Love it. That dog is adorable. Thank you for taking the time to do this!
ReplyDeleteInside or outside it sure looks like they're having fun.
ReplyDeleteI used to throw a blanket on the floor in the house for me and the kids to have lunch (in picnic)...would have been a tablecloth but back when the kids were young I did not own one. I love your drawing.
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely perfect for the tablecloth theme... I love how you’ve thought out of the box! It’s a very creative solution. (Indoor picnics are so much fun!)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful indoor picnic, love the tablecloth, quit necessary for any picnic!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet drawing! I really like it, and it looks like a little table cloth might have been used for your dog's scarf too :)
ReplyDeleteHi dear Alexandra,
ReplyDeleteJust look at the glint in the doggie's (your little guy?) eyes - he feels he's on a bed of stars - doesn't realize it's your tablecloth!
Hugs, hope you're all better by now - Mary
I see no reason the tablecloth can't be used inside as well as outside. I might actually prefer it that way, using a blanket instead of a tablecloth for outdoor use. :-) The lunch sounds delicious, and all the more fun being on that starry tablecloth!
ReplyDeletetablecloths can go on the floor
ReplyDeletelove the dinosaur! :D
Priceless!
ReplyDeleteOh this is lovely ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
A tablecloth is a tablecloth no matter where it lies ... always so cute! You grow with every line you draw Alexandra. And I love the stars and a child with his pup is always a picnic ... so much fun.

I love the illustration Alexandra! I believe I made a tablecloth into an indoor flying carpet on occasion in those days! Always with the prerequisite snacks on board too. It may have all been inspired my dear grandmother not wanting crumbs all over her rugs though. . . lol
ReplyDeleteWhy not a tablecloth on the floor. I love the idea of an inside picnic, and the menu is perfect. Very cute. Love the splash of color.
