It's been a joy attending Michael's weekly picnics and all the festivities they include. From scrummy foods to meeting wonderful new people like each of you...and today, Pat! This is his first Christmas as he's a brand new character in one of the two upcoming children's books I'm illustrating and scheduled to launch in 2018. As you can see, one of the presents he's discovered is a shiny, yellow spinning top!
Pat is a charming young boy who's about to take each of us on a journey on how
kindness can change the world around us. Coming, Fall of 2018 - "The
Ripple" written by the lovely Monica Moyer Stoltzfus.
Now, off to explore under the Christmas tree Michael has put up this week. There seems to be a beautifully wrapped pressie underneath for each of us! Ohhhh please do share what you got! Oh, and don't forget to grab a slice of my 3-layer red velvet cake with vanilla icing and peppermint sprinkles on top I brought along!
I'm diving in right now! Yum. Yours is the BEST red velvet peppermint crunch cake ever.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, this piece is truly INCREDIBLE. It pulls you into the illustration and I feel like I'm right there with this adorable little chap, Pat, in awe of that magnificent tree and the magical sparkling spinner top! His expression is perfect. I love how you put the tree off to the side too so there coudl be the abundance of darling toys...like that fabulous car and the drum. It's literally every boys classic Christmas tree. You can tell you love Christmas, and I'm reminded of "The Polar Express" too with its magical sleigh bell, like the spinner here. Wow, Monica msut be thrilled too. I know I am.
A lovely take on the theme too, darling. Thank you so much. Can't wait to see whatever you do for Christmastime next week. I;m so looking forward to that alone simply for the chance to write something to each person in this weekly picnic art challenge. Thank you for keeping me motivated too. :D
Wow, I jsut saw your Etsy shop preview of the latest pieces. They look incredible and would make a fabulous wintery blue cozy set of cards for the holidays or even the new year and season upon us in general. So great.
ReplyDeleteOh yum! Many yums. Looking forward to the book and would really love a slice of that cake.
ReplyDeletesuch a beautiful painting and that cake sounds amazing!!!! Happy Holidays!!
ReplyDeleteSweet sketch, pleased to meet Pat!
ReplyDeletethis is wonderful, I like pat and his red hair & his new golden top. all the hues works wonderfully together.
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
I'll have a slice! :) Your illustration is so cute Alexandra! :) Pat seems to happy to get his top! We have to hide our gifts until the morning of Christmas or else there is a CSI scene of mangled bows ribbons and gift wrap...clues leading directly to 5 furry canines and 3 furry felines... :)
ReplyDeleteWow, so colorful and heart warming ... even the wallpaper brings back memories. As always, Alexandra ... perfection :)
