Scribble Picnic (Goodnight sweet 'Ele')

Baby Lyndon....that's his name. Born July 2nd of this year and his room is already filling up with elephants. (Hence the title, "ele".) Several weeks ago, a long-time follower on my Facebook art page messaged me to request a custom illustration for her brand new grand-baby. The only requirement? - including a stuffed elephant.

My goal with this illustration was to create a long-lasting story to follow Lyndon growing up as a little boy. I'm very pleased with the results and my client is as well! In fact, she's head over heals with it!

Up until last week, I wasn't sure how I was going to capture Michael's latest Scribble Picnic theme, curtain. But, here we are...this sweet picture captures it quite well. In fact, I'm wishing I had a magical room like his! How about you? Can you spot all of Lyndon's favorite things in his room?

  2. That's a great little boy's room. Full of cherished possessions including that elephant. He must be sleepy with a wonderful refreshing breeze.

    1. Thank you, Lorraine. And it is! It's funny...when I first started this illustration, it was quite challenging for me to think of what items/toys would even be in a boy's room! LOL ....and I love your idea of a sweet breeze sweeping through his window, past the jar of fireflies while he sleeps. :)

  5. Oh Alexandra, this brings back memories. My little one was a girl and we had a little elephant puppet named Ele who read her stories at bedtime when she was visiting with us. This is precious and your friend is blessed to have this picture for her Grandbaby ... and yes, I can find all of Lyndon's favorite things :)

  10. I love the little fox and bearpics, the airplane model, crayons, etc. And that stuffed ele is adorable too! The whole thing exudes warmth, charm and magic. Love it. So glad it worked for the curtain theme too. I'm not surprised the client was thrilled--I would have been. Thank you so much for getting this done in time for our picnic! Wonderful take, smoots. xo P.S. Love that you thought of how to have a long-lasting story to follow Lyndon whilst he grows up. Brill.
