This week's Scribble Picnic kept me on....pins and needles....as it was super challenging but also super fun! I'm so glad I grabbed my picnic basket to join everyone! If you follow the Scribble Picnic link above you'll see the theme for this week was "fill in the blank" by completing the dot and line Michael provided. It's been fascinating to see what everyone came up with.
As you can see, my interpretation took me to a whole new place in my illustration work and I'm beyond thrilled with the results. I LOVE this piece and am offering it as a print in my shop where you can find all of my other whimsical originals and prints. Also, feel free to download the black and white version to color in yourself. When finished, please post your completed coloring sheet for all to view.
Happy Picnicking! :)

ReplyDelete--Hahahhaha.
gosh, I so love this, Smoots. It's clever and, yes, a whole different style for you whislt borrowing elements of your own whimsy. I love how you did this and how you carried on with the pin cushion idea. This family of mom, daughter and grandma...and...fox(?!) is wonderful! What a family! Let's just hope no voodoo priest gets their hands on these adorables!
Bravo!! Love your write up too btw. Thank you!
Very cute take on the theme Alexandra!
ReplyDeletelove it!! i love how everyone's drawing is so different!!
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute. I bet that you could sell pincushions that actually were characters like that.
ReplyDeleteThe fox doesn't seem to mind a bit, but the others look rather concerned about those pins and needles! Oh, your details–the freckles, holes for sewing on the buttons, the stitching around the bottoms of the pincushions,... wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYou could sell those "Pin Cushions" HaHa....VERY CLEVER, INDEED.
ReplyDeleteSuper fun and unique. I thought at first of them as pin cushions. Then I was reminded of accupuncture. I have enjoyed seeing all the unique art this week.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why the fox is the only one seems to be smiling. this is cute but in an odd way, for me anyway, but wonderful take on the dot-line challenge.
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
That is so funny ... when I was a child there was a seamstress in my neighborhood who used to stick pins in her hair bun ... we used to giggle when we saw her ... you brought back some fun memories with this, Alexandra ... hope your new life is taking you to many delightful places.

very nice :)
ReplyDeletei wonder if anyone has actually made pin cushion dolls, not the voodoo type but ones for actual sewing, would be a creepy/good idea lol :)
Alexandra I LOVE this illustration! A bit surreal (if one wishes to see it that way, and I always do!) and still so charming. . . a story waits within. . . perhaps the pins are a "gifted" child's way of subduing bad dreams or self-deprecating/critical thoughts. . . or of accessing magical ones, like conjuring or creating a fox dream-sibling??? :) Although I did just read an article about a project in Siberia that is breeding domesticated foxes and, apparently, they are more bonded and loyal to their human caretakers than dogs sooooo. . .
ReplyDeleteLovely work!!
Love this one Alexandra - your imagination certainly did get the best of you this week!
ReplyDeleteThe hair colors, clothing and styles are so cute - and a fox in a bow tie was a great idea.
Very fun - love it all!
I really love it Alexandra!!
ReplyDeleteneat idea for the pins!
ReplyDeleteI love this fun take on the theme, Alexandra...nice imagination at play! These lovelies make me think of pincushions probably because I used to sew a lot before art found its way into my life. I still use a little pillow-style pin-cushion I made many years ago.
