Scribble Picnic (Grandfather Clock)

Another challenging sketch for me this week but am thankful for the weekly themes over at Scribble Picnic to keep us on our toes! It was grandfather clock for this week and what a great way to incorporate it into the children's book I'm currently writing entitled, "Thickleberry Village"...enjoy their very own town (grandfather) clock. Hee

I spent so much time on the details and sending out yet another survey to my wonderful followers for what kind of shops, that I ran out of time to paint it this week. Can you spot the 4 shops and various details? After adding a few woodland creatures, I'll get to coloring it in and promise to share near the end of this week.

    I love the grandfather clock made from an actual tree Alexandra - and that sweetshop looks amazing with all the old fashioned glass jars - Michael, like me, remembers them I'm sure!
    A cheese shop - oh yes, and I admit I'd even take that over the sweetshop these days - I'm such a 'cheeseaholic'.
    Will love viewing your completed piece in color - know it will be spectacular.

    OOh, i so love your write up and of course the darling lil woodnand grove with all thoe adorable shop names etc ! Another fabulous piece. Haha, love that barber shop too--can you imagine a hedgie going in there for a haircut? Ouch! :)

    The shop without a "sign" was tricky, but I found it! What a sweet village, and with no excuse for ever running late with that nice clock for all to see.

    cheese shop, sweet shop & a book shop, I don't see the fourth shop unless it's a barber shop? perhaps a bakery would be nice or is that the sweet shop?

    such beautiful details, will definitely come back for the color version.

    You create such adorable illustrations, Alexandra. I love how you incorporated the Grandfather clock theme and the shop fronts are perfect for a little village.
