Sunday Sketches: Mr. Dandy on a Saturday

Between saying good-bye to an old friend at breakfast this morning and venturing off to Barnes & Noble for my story-time and book signing, I'd say it's been a pretty busy weekend thus far! Uh huh. I had a wonderful time reading to the group of children and look forward to the art classes I'll be teaching at the store this summer.

Above is Mr. Dandy...a little guy inspired by one of our long walks this week. Michael had taken the most incredible picture of a dandelion field as the sun was setting - amazing! Maybe we'll all be lucky and he'll post it on his own blog this week.

It's been quite nippy here with it raining cats and dogs all day. I'm off to cozy up for the evening.

  2. This reminds me of the folklore connected with dandelion clocks - he loves me, he loves me not; using them to tell the time; blowing the seeds is said to carry your thoughts and dreams to your loved one; of course ultimately blowing the seeds gives you even more dandelions everywhere. Yesterday, like Mr. Toast, I too was photographing a dandelion meadow which caught my eye.

  5. You are cooperating with B&N? Wow, that's awesome! Mr. Dany is such a cutie-pie. And I love turquoise. And dandelions, love macros of their intricate details. Raining cats and dogs, huh? There's a picture to create - lol, it's the same here in NJ, btw... Have a wonderful Sunday!

  6. Love seeing you reading to the children - lucky little kids!!!!

Mr. Dandy is adorable - dandelion clocks recall so many childhood walks through Devon's countryside - and a slew of them growing in our lawn along with daisies. Making daisy chains was a summer pastime - English daisies are so sweet.

Alex - 'Cake Talk' illustrations are an article/page in the current May COSTCO magazine. If you can't get one I can send mine - threw it out but rescued it from the trash when you mentioned it. If you want it, but it is wrinkled, I can send it to you - just leave me your mailing address in an e-mail ASAP - I leave for Ireland Wed.

    Hugs - Mary
