Sunday Sketches

Can you believe it's time for another fabulous, fun week of sketching, paintings and so forth?!  Wow!  Well, come on in.  There's plenty of creativity to go around.  :)

I'm in love with old typewriters and every time I go into a paper shop, I'm snapping photos!  Hee  Above is a rendition of one I love in my favorite town, Boulder.

Sunday Sketches

Welcome to another wonderful week of Sunday Sketches!  Let's give a warm HELLO to all of our recent, new peeps.  I'm just amazed at how our group continues to grow!  :)

It's been a busy couple of days.  I've been trying to focus on a big art commission as well as misc art projects of my own, all the while prepping for my next college semester to begin.  Quite overwhelming, if I might say so, but am looking forward to the new upcoming classes and opportunities.

Above is another sketch where I'm attempting to improve my skill on the perspective side of drawing.   Some aspects of this particular piece turned out well.  Other areas, well, need quite a bit of work. Oh dear me!  :D

The exciting thing about this is my college independent study for this semester will be teaching me how to improve this skill, so I look forward to sharing my journey with all of you as the weeks progress.

PPF and Monet

Good morning!  It's a brisk winter morning here but we're up with a cuppa in hand, ready to take on the day!  Are you ready?  I sure am!  Uh huh.  :)

I started the painting above late last night.  It's a new style for me and a huge step outside my comfort zone as I've always been more at ease focusing on a particular subject, such as a tree, animal, etc., versus an entire landscape.  I shared my WIP with a friend this morning and was told it reminded them of Monet's work.  Although I was reflecting back on a Renaissance painting on my grandmother's living room wall of a girl sitting in a field of flowers, it's obvious I was inspired subconsciously by Monet's piece. Of course, I won't be selling this!  Oh dear me.  Anyway, I'm looking forward to doing another piece, this time of my own inspiration entirely.  :)

I've a love for poppies and desired to push myself to paint a piece beyond the delicate, red flowers in themselves, as I usually do. I'm amazed at just how well it's coming along thus far and depending on the final piece, this could very well be a new wave of paintings (and personal creative growth) for me!

Sunday Sketches

WOYWW - New Style & Inspiration

It's been a fairly busy, dramatic week but I'm happy to be settled down at my cozy desk for another round of WOYWW.  I'm really enjoying getting back into the swing of things, making new bloggie friends and sharing/exchanging wonderful, creative ideas.  Uh huh.  :)

I'm simply loving my creative space over the past few weeks - sipping a hot cuppa, gazing out the large, glass window pane, all the while doodling and painting away.  Ahhhhh.  It's really been quite blissful, let me tell you!

In fact, I've recently started reading a borrowed book called "The Creative License" by Danny Gregory.   It's quite brilliant and thus, the inspired drawing above.  This is my very first complete loose-style sketch and it seems to work for me.

So, I plan to continue on this very inspirational journey simply to see what the final results are.  Who knows what magic might be found between the start and finish!

Paint Party Friday

I'm back for another week.  Yeah!  :)

First off, let me apologize for not making rounds last week due to being down with the flu.  I'm doing much better this week and am looking forward to seeing what everyone's been up to.

Above is one of the few new cards I've painted over the last two days.  Quite lovely and can't wait to get it listed in my shop.  I've plenty of projects to tend to and complete over the next few weeks, so back to the creative desk!  :)

WOYWW - Much to do!

It's not been a productive week for me, yet.  Oh dear.  I've allowed the holiday blues and ickies get the best of me.  But, today, I'm feeling on top of it all so am sitting at my cozy, little desk, ready to take things on this afternoon.

On my to do list are misc projects of angels, wiener dogs, handmade cards and so forth.  So, wish me luck!  I've got a little less than 4 weeks before college classes resume!

With my favorite watercolor palette, sharpie markers and a hot cuppa...here I go! Uh huh :)
