Junior Bear's Journey

If you recall, I introduced Junior a few weeks back, announcing I would be creating some illustrations for an upcoming children's book.  I'm quite excited about it and am delighted to give you a sneak peak of some ideas I've put to paper thus far.  Please do keep in mind that these will be in the Beatrix Potter style.

I'm open to any ideas or thoughts.  One thing I'd like to know is how to make my sky flow better with my watercolours.  Anyone willing to give me some tips?  Hee

OK....off I to dive in more.  Have a wonderful week, my bloggie friends.  :)

Sunday Sketches

Good morning and welcome to another week of Sunday Sketches.  Please do excuse me for the delay as I was up most of the night incredibly ill and just finished my doodles not long ago.

These are not my best pieces but I wanted to challenge myself to put some Valentine ideas to paper.  I think I know where to go from here but hey, it's a start and that's what art is about.  No?  :)

So, here's to a wonderful Sunday to each of you!

Tell me, my lovely peeps.  What things make your life "cozy" in this sometimes crazy world of ours?  Would love to know! :)

Sunday Sketches

OK....here's my SS.  Nothing special art wise but a great, fun idea to bless someone.  These are handmade gift certificates I made recently for something a little extra and special for a friend's birthday.  And let me tell you it was THE best thing I could've done.  They were utterly blessed from head to toe by these and enjoyed using them.  Hee :)

Love you all and so thankful each of you wonderful peeps are in my life to inspire, encourage and love.

Happy SS!  :)  I'm off to visit everyone.

P.S.  If you didn't receive a comment from me on last week's SS post, it's because I wasn't able to access two or three sites.  I tried several times but there must be an issue with Blogger again. Grr.  Sorry.

Sunday Sketches

Welcome to another week of Sunday Sketches.  The last few days have been quite productive and for that I'm quite thankful. Previously I mentioned this year was going to be one of changes, therefore I've started taking a few steps forward over the last week or so, but especially the past few days to get a few more things rolling.  When certain things are more concrete, I'll be sure to shout it out here.  :)

In the meantime, let me share some exciting news received just a week or so ago.  Over the next few months I'll be creating around 10 illustrations (in B. Potter style no less) for an upcoming children's book that will teach youngsters about Math.  I'm delighted to have this opportunity and wanted to provide a sneak peak of one idea put to paper just a few hours ago.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to visit everyone else.  Happy SS!

Hope and Joy - Uh huh

My week started off well - that alone made me smile within.  And for the first time since I moved here, I felt a deep sense of hope and joy today of something wonderful most definitely coming my way this year.  A good, positive change for me.  Uh huh.  Oh yeah!  :)

Enjoy the collage above from a fun photo adventure I had a few weekends ago.  LOVED it and can't wait for the next snowfall!

Sunday Sketches

Hello and WELCOME to round two of 2012.  (Sounds lovely to the ears, does it not? Hee)

This week I attempted painting my very first bird and am completely satisfied with it.  Not to sound arrogant, but the photo really doesn't do this painting justice at all.  I tried multiple snap shots and now scanning - it's the best I can capture it.

I have to admit that I almost scrapped the entire piece as it felt as if it were headed down a terrible path of ugliness.  Ha-Ha.  So glad I didn't.

One thing I do need to pay attention to is leaving more room on the outside of my artwork.  I always paint to the edges and don't realise it until it's completed.  Grr.  :)

Now it's time to visit everyone else.  Happy SS and lots of bloggie hugs.

Special Wishes

Just popping in to share with you another misc watercolour that I've been working on this past week.  She still needs some tweaking but overall, I just adore her.  I love how her hair turned out.  :)

I hope this little note finds each of you doing well.

More Than Ever

Here I sit at my newly created nook thinking about my day, whilst also mentally preparing myself for returning to work tomorrow after some extended holiday time.  Most of today was spent running errands and keeping busy so as to not think of the things that cause my heart to be sad, for one reason or another.  Sigh.

I've been thinking about alot of things lately, including changes coming and how/where I want to be in the coming months.  Solitude and seclusion is good only for a period of time; I feel like I've had my fill of both.  Although my life is filled with more friends and such compared to this time last year, my heart is longing for something more.  Maybe some of it's that I've done a great job tucking away from the world other valuable talents of mine; protecting myself from potential additional hurts, etc.  Could it be time to unleash them once again?

With that said, it's also important for me to not lose the balance of things I've found over the last couple of years, including my faith, due to the losses I've endured.  Though painful and no desire to repeat, each one has taught me much about how fragile life is.

I've a lot of faith now more than ever and hoping it will bring the clarity desired to make myself and this year the best it can be.

Sunday Sketches

Note:  Mr. Linky fixed now.  My apologies.

Good morning and welcome the first SS of 2012.  Wow!  Can you believe it?

I hope each of you had a lovely Christmas holiday and things are beginning to settle down after all of the hustle and bustle over the last few months.

Above is some more Beatrix Potter (practice) paintings.  I've actually a few watercolours going now and am looking forward to sharing the completed projects over the next week or two.  But, there's nothing like using Ms. Potter to get back into the swings of things.  :)

OK...off to visit everyone else.  Happy SS!
