Well, I'm completely excited to share today's post with you. In prepping for a small art showing this summer I felt the need to challenge myself in painting something larger than a 5x7 to provide a variety of original paintings to potential customers.
With that said, I'm
very pleased to share with you my first 8x10 painting of some favorite flowers of mine -
Lilacs. They turned out far better than what I'd imagined and am quite pleased with the results. The only thing left is to find the perfect matting and frame.
Any suggestions on the style and color of frame to present this painting in?
Happy Wednesday!
I love the style of this, it reminds me a little of french artists such as Dufy. :) If I were to frame it, I'd choose something very light coloured, I hope that helps. :)

ReplyDeletelove your lilacs...I'm just getting back into painting...so haven't reached the point where I need to learn more about presentation...with mat board and frame! I'm sure one of your readers will be able to help you out!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jess, a light colored frame. It sure looks like spring. Good luck with your show.

ReplyDeleteoh me too Sophia!!!! the scent is amazing.....I can hardly wait till they are in bloom!!! we have a few and there are a couple of places where there are hundreds of them and as you walk it takes your breath away!!!!!
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful! Perhaps it does not need a frame!

Definitively light colored, like a muted silver or something like that.
ReplyDeleteYour lilacs are so beautiful (and great job for jumping out of your comfort zone - three cheers for a job well done!)

So beautiful Sophia!! Good for you, in challenging your self! I see a lot of the people are saying a light colored frame. I was thinking a frame that looked like wood, with the knots in it. Old fashion looking. Maybe light, but with hints of darker brown in it. But, then looking at it, I think you could go dramatic too, and have a black frame or purple one? Lots of options ;o) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous - hope someone gives it a nice home.
ReplyDeleteOh Sophia,
ReplyDeleteYour work has come such a long way and just keeps getting better and better....and, how lovely that you will be showing your work in the Summer. You must be really excited. I look forward to seeing more of your pieces. XXXX

ReplyDeletewhat a lovely painting. I recommend white frame or white border so it's not obtrusive.
ReplyDeletehope you are having a sweet february.
