Egg-cellent Morning
Although it is a bit chilly this morning, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and the air smells amazing. Besides a perfect hot cuppa, what a wonderful way to start a Friday morning after a long week of being sick and dealing with life stresses.
Pictured above is the first of three Easter cards I have been commissioned to do for a dear friend in Tennessee. I'm discovering that I enjoy watercolour painting the most and am working to improve/sharpen my skills. Can anyone recommend a fairly affordable book or two that would help me on my journey?
Thank you to Kristin and Eva at Paint Party Friday, as it really kept me motivated in getting something started on this project. Their button can be found here - grab it and join us for some weekly fun!
Being creative really is helping me cope with the stress of my father's condition and makes him smile when he sees what I've sketched/painted. :)
Hehe. Love it. Can't seem to get enough of the bunnies and chicks today!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet card. I love the easter colors and those two birdies are adorable.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could help you with a watercolor book. I am going to check back and see if anyone has any suggestions.
Have a great weekend....."see" you on Sunday!
Love the eggs and the little chick peeking out. So cute and whimsical. Glad to hear that you can make your father smile, still praying for his recovery.
ReplyDeleteLove the Easter card! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHello Sophia!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable card this will be - a little chick in the egg...sweet. the jellybeans are a fun detail, too!
I have a book that I LOVE called Painting with watercolor, pen & ink by Claudia Nice. I borrowed it from the library and had it for so long, that i decided i better buy my own copy! hee! it's very helpful.
I am glad to see you being so creative and that your dad is getting to see all of this fun filled art of yours - i am sure it lifts his spirits so very much!
I love this, Sophia! Really well composed and the colors are wonderful. Good for you falling in love with watercolor. I love the medium as a viewer not a practitioner, so email me your mailing address and I will send you the watercolor books I have but will never use. Have a great weekend and see ya on Sunday sketches.
ReplyDeleteSophia it is too cute! Your friend is going to love it! Not sure if you have a library close to you but I've found a fairly large collection through our library. I would also try a used book store if you have one in your area and if you have a Hobby Lobby close by, you can use their 40% off coupons for books! I just found one on clearance for $11 the other day.
ReplyDeleteLove your Easter card. Colors are great. Great work. Have a wonderful weekend and glad you are feeling better with your "cuppa." :D
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it! The chick is just perfect!
ReplyDeleteHappy Paint Party Friday!

Your card is just too darn cute and comical...lol ...the jelly beans...adore the way the chick is looking at them !!! You do create beautiful cards.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you can make your dad happy with your art. Life sure has it's hurdles and art seems to always help us preserver. Hope your dad gets better soon.

Adorable! What fun!
ReplyDeleteI've also been on the lookout for a good watercolor book. I bought one called The Complete Watercolor Course edited by Richard Taylor. I picked it up at Half Price Books (do you have those by you?) for something like $14. It's pretty good, but I've found I've really learned the most by painting. I'll have to check back to see what other books people recommend. I'm always on the lookout for great book suggestions.
beautiful !
ReplyDeleteplease have a good weekend.
